Stately splendour and glorious gardens.

Burghley House is renowned as the finest Elizabethan house in England. Views of this magnificent mansion, crowned with spiked towers and 76 gravity-defying chimneys, are framed by gardens and parkland designed by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown in the 18th century. He spent 25 years  - one of his longest commissions - not only redesigning the grounds of Burghley, but a new stable, the Orangery and a Gothic summerhouse. The 300th anniversary of the birth of the genius landscape gardener will be celebrated at Burghley in 2016.
